Description
The County Hotel is an early 18th-century building, likely rebuilt around 1830 and incorporating an adjacent house. It has been known by various names including the Salutation, Hope Inn, and Cascoigne’s Hotel. The building is two to three storeys high and has approximately seven windows. The north block is painted stucco with a decorative band and plain architraves around the windows. The south range features a wide gable with a modern tiled roof. It has recessed sash windows with plain surrounds and an architraved doorway topped with brackets. Nos. 28 to 31 Devonshire Place are grouped with the County Hotel.
