Description
Nos 12 and 13 on Maryport Street are a pair of buildings with an 18th-century front that belongs to an earlier structure. They stand three storeys tall and are rendered and painted. There is a band between the storeys on No 12, while the second floor of No 13 is slightly recessed. Flanking pilaster strips are present, and a wooden band conceals the eaves of the half hipped pantile roof. No 12 features two recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars, while No 13 has one sash window that is four panes wide, all set in wood frames. The first floor has a block sill course. The ground floor of No 12 includes a Victorian shop front with two segment-headed three-light windows supported by poppy head colonettes, alongside side windows leading to a segmental arched doorway. The glazed door has two fielded panels and a rectangular fanlight above it. No 13 has a mid-20th-century shop front. Nos 1 to 16 on this street form a group.
