Description
Nos 14 and 15 Maryport Street are 18th century buildings that stand two storeys tall and are constructed of painted stone. No 15 slightly projects from No 14. Originally separate premises, they have now been combined into one. The buildings feature a gable end slate roof and have three tall 18th century ridge stacks. The eaves are boxed, with No 15 displaying an egg and dart band. There are two flat-roofed dormers with slate cheeks and two-light 19th century casements. Each building has two windows, with No 15 having taller windows, which are sash style with intact glazing bars and set in architrave surrounds. The sills and lower panes on No 15 are obscured by a modern fascia. The ground floor retains the frames of two mid-19th century shop fronts, each with one window flanked by pilasters. The doors have lower panels, with the upper parts being glazed. There is a frieze and box cornice, although the upper part has been altered with modern fascia and blind cases. Nos 1 to 16 Maryport Street form a group.
