Description

Nos 11 and 11A, Maryport Street, date from the late 18th century, although they stand on the site of an earlier building. The facade is rendered on stone and presents as three storeys, with bands delineating the floors. Pilaster strips, of the same width and depth as the bands, create recessed panels for the windows. A moulded cornice projects forward, acting as capitals for the pilaster strips. The building has five windows, two of which are blind. The windows are sash windows with intact glazing bars, set in wooden frames and thin block sills. A modern shop front occupies the ground floor, but traces of original banded rustication remain on the sides, along with the original mid-19th century frame and moulded cornice found below the blind window casing. Nos 1 to 16, Maryport Street, form a group.
