Description

Nos 29 and 30 Castle Street are a pair of buildings dating to the 18th and late 18th centuries respectively. No 29 is a two-storey building with colour-washed stucco and an old tile roof. It has a single window with four panes on the first floor and five panes on the ground floor. The right-hand side features a six-panel door set within a surround of fluted pilasters and cut brackets supporting a delicate cornice that projects forward over the pilasters and a pediment. No 30 is a three-storey stucco building resting on a projecting plinth. It has a string course above the first-floor windows and a slate roof. The upper part of the building contains two windows, and the ground floor has one window, with a later six-panel door to the left, set within a panelled reveal with an architrave, pilasters, cut brackets, a broken entablature, and a pediment. Both buildings are part of a group value context with Nos 1 to 9 Lowndes Buildings in Castle Street.
