Description
Nos 21 and 22 Castle Street are a pair of late 18th-century houses that stand two storeys tall with an attic. They are constructed of red brick on a projecting plinth. No 21 features a slate roof and has one dormer, a small sash window, and two additional windows on the first floor. The ground floor of No 21 includes one window and a six-panel flush door set within an architrave surround, flanked by pilasters with cut console brackets, and a cornice that breaks forward over the pilasters. There is also a small secondary arched door to the left. No 22 has a small 19th-century shop window with three lights and an entablature, along with a similar door and surround as seen on No 21. These buildings, along with Nos 1 to 9 Lowndes Buildings, contribute to the group value of the listed buildings on the west side of Castle Street.
