Description

This is a milepost from the late 19th century, located in front of Laughton House on the north side of Main Street in Sutton-on-the-Forest. It is made of cast iron and features a hollow-backed, triangular section with a sloping top plate. The top plate has raised lettering that reads "BULMER/WEST/H.D." On the left side, there is a hand pointing right with the inscription "HELMSLEY/15/MILES," and on the right side, another hand pointing right with the inscription "YORK/8/MILES."
