Description

This is a mile post located approximately 100 metres south of Water End Farm, dating from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape. On the left side, there is a hand pointing left with the inscription 'HELMSLEY 10 MILES', and on the right side, a hand pointing right with 'YORK 13 MILES'. The top of the post reads 'BULMER WEST H.D.'. This mile post was installed after the Highways Act of 1888. It is positioned incorrectly on the road for the directions it indicates. Water End Farm is not included in this listing.
