Description
Seaves Farmhouse and Seaves Cottage are a farmhouse and an attached cottage located on the west side of the B1363 in Brandsby-cum-Stearsby. The farmhouse dates from the early 18th century, while the cottage is from the early 19th century. Both buildings are constructed of well-coursed sandstone and have pantile roofs.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and features three bays. It has a central blocked doorway flanked by 16-pane sash windows. On the first floor, there is a blocked central window with side-sliding sashes on either side. The eaves have a band, and there are shaped kneelers, ashlar coping, and a brick end stack to the left. The cottage, which is taller, has two storeys and features a 4-panel door with a 6-pane overlight below. It also has 16-pane sash windows with flat arches and a first-floor band, along with shaped kneelers and moulded ashlar coping. The cottage has brick end stacks.
At the rear, the farmhouse has been rebuilt in brick, while the cottage has a rear wing.
