Description

This is a milepost located on the east side of Ripon Road in South Stainley, dating from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a sloping top, standing approximately 75 centimetres high. The inscriptions on the milepost include "LEEDS 21" at the top, "HARROGATE 6" on the left face with a hand pointing to the right, and "RIPON 5" on the right face with a hand pointing to the left.
