Description

Brook House is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble and cobbles, with sandstone dressings, and has a pantile roof with stone slates to the right-hand bay. The building is two storeys high, originally with two bays, and a lower two-storey bay to the right. The main facade faces south, away from the road. Quoins are present. A 2-panel door, set in a stone surround with a wooden lintel, is located on the left-hand side of the lower bay. There is a 18-pane side-sliding sash window to the right of the door, and a similar sash window above. The main block features 3-light side-sliding sashes with glazing bars, set under flat sandstone arches. End stacks are visible. The interior includes substantial timber beams to the ground-floor rooms.
