Description

This milestone, dated 1712, is located approximately 15 metres northwest of Milehouse Farm on Firby Masham Road. It is made of limestone and features a square-section pillar that stands about 1 metre high, set on a plinth. The west side is inscribed with the words 'Richmond 1712' in good lettering, while the north side reads 'Bedale', the east side 'Ripon', and the south side 'Masham'.
