Description
Numbers 4 and 6 and the Smithy are a cottage and smithy built in the late 18th to early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick and feature pantile and machine-tile roofs. The cottages are two stories tall and consist of three bays, with a one-story, two-bay smithy located to the right.
The cottages have a 20th-century half-glazed door to the right of the left-hand bay and a 19th-century board door at the far right. To the left of this door is a side-sliding sash window with a segmental brick arch. The two left-hand bays contain 6-pane sash windows, also with segmental brick arches and stone sills. On the first floor, there are 6-pane sashes with stone sills. The roof is made of machine tiles and features a stack at the left end and two more along the ridge.
The smithy has a board carriage door with a flush frame and a segmental brick relieving arch on the left side. To the right, there is a side-sliding sash window with a segmental relieving arch and shutters. The eaves are stepped and dentilled, and the smithy has a pantile roof with a stack at the right end. This building occupies a prominent position, closing two vistas.
