Description
This is a milestone from the 18th century, located against the churchyard wall on the southwest side of Clough Road in Norland. The stone pillar is square in shape and stands approximately 1.5 meters high, featuring a pyramidal top. Each face of the milestone has well-cut serifed lettering that indicates distances to various locations: the southwest face reads "To Ripponden 2+M," the southeast face reads "To Ealand 2+M," the northeast face reads "To Halifax 2+M," and the northwest face reads "To Sowerby 2+M."
