Description
A row of three cottages, now combined into a single dwelling, with an attached barn, dating to around 1800. The building may have earlier origins. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with a stone slate roof. The layout is L-shaped, with two storeys and three bays, plus a lower three-bay barn to the rear right. Quoins are present. The openings have plain stone surrounds, and the windows have flat-faced mullions.
The cottage range features a doorway on the left side of each bay, although the doorway to the rightmost bay is now missing. Each floor has a four-light window. Shaped gutter brackets are visible. There are four ridge stacks. At the rear, the right bay has a four-light window to each floor. The central bay has a four-light window on the ground floor and a five-light window above. To the left, the barn range projects; the bay closest to the cottage range is integrated into the cottage, with a keyed, arched first-floor window. The barn has a central cart entry with imposts and a keystone. An inserted window sits above the cart entry, and a blocked mistal doorway is present on the right at a lower level. The right return side of the cottage range has a two-light cellar window on the right, and two windows to the ground and first floors. The ground floor left window has been converted into a doorway. A blocked square opening with a ledge is visible in the gable.
The barn's central cart entry is elliptical-arched, with imposts and a keystone. The left return side of the barn has two three-light windows to each floor, added in 1985. The building was originally part of Greenhead House and likely provided accommodation for its employees.
