Description

A row of six cottages with an attached barn, built in 1825. The cottages and barn are constructed from dressed stone, with a watershot finish, and have a stone slate roof. The corners are emphasised by quoins. The cottages are two storeys high. Each cottage has a doorway with a sill tie to the left of a four-light mullioned window with a slightly projecting sill. A five-light window is positioned above this on the first floor. The barn, attached to the right-hand end of the cottages, features a segmental-arched cart entry with a simple Venetian window above. A mistal doorway on the barn's right side has tie-stone jambs and a large, single lintel. The gables are coped, with kneelers at the corners. The left-hand return wall has a semi-circular arched window to the attic space; the lintel is inscribed with the date and initials “I.B.” The rear elevation mirrors the front fenestration of the barn. Some cottages have a doorway with a tie-stone jamb and sill tie to the left of a three-light window, with a four-light window above on the first floor. There are five stacks positioned along the ridge of the roof.
