Description
Number 19 is a house with an attached barn and front garden wall, built in the mid to late 19th century, with an earlier rear wing. The house is pebble-dashed, while the barn is constructed from rubble limestone, both featuring graduated slate roofs. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a wing at the rear and a lower barn attached on the right side.
The house has a central panelled door with a plain overlight, set in an architrave beneath a cornice supported by consoles. To the left, there is a canted bay window with plain sashes and a cornice, while to the right, a tripartite sash window is framed by an architrave. On the first floor, there are four-pane sash windows with projecting sills and raised surrounds, also under cornices on consoles. The building features fascia brackets for the ogee gutter, oversailing verges, and limestone end stacks with bands. The rear wing has a large external end stack.
The barn includes a widened garage entrance beneath a segmental limestone arch that springs from the house gable. There is a stable door on the far right, which has quoins and a segmental arch, and a blind first floor. The eaves of the barn are set lower than those of the house.
The front garden wall encloses the garden in front of the house and has rock-faced limestone corner piers connected by dwarf walls with iron railings. The gate piers are inscribed with 'HARTLEY/ WINCOTE'.
