Description
Number 24 is a farmhouse dating to 1826, accompanied by an attached barn and stable, along with a boundary wall. The farmhouse is constructed of brick with a 20th-century pantile roof, featuring eaves banding and two gable stacks. It is two storeys high and has three bays, arranged in a roughly L-shaped layout. The windows are glazing bar sashes, with the ground-floor windows having rubbed brick heads. The north front features a central panelled door set in reeded jambs, with an overlight. It is flanked by single sashes, and above are three further sashes, the central one being smaller. The west gable has a 20th-century casement window, while the east front has a 19th-century door with a segmental head, and 20th-century casements. Above these are windows with a segmental head, and an insurance plaque and datestone inscribed 'JC 1826' are present on the east gable. The barn and stable, built in the late 18th century, are of coursed rubble and brick construction, with pantile roofs and coped gables. The east side of the barn and stable has two tiers of two diamond breathers to the left, and a blocked barn door with an inserted door and timber lintel to the right. A 19th-century casement window is set above the door. To the right of the barn and stable is a cowshed dating to the mid-19th century, consisting of two bays with a single timber post and slate roof. A stable adjoins the cowshed, featuring a slatted casement and a stable door, both with segmental heads. The front boundary wall is made of brick, with ramped gabled ashlar coping. Four square brick piers have concave pyramidal ashlar caps. A wrought iron spearhead gate completes the boundary.
