Description

This milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located to the south of Augill House, near Brough on the old road that now serves as a lay-by. The stone stands approximately 2 feet high and features a segmental top with edge chamfers. It has a carved sans serif inscription that has been painted out in white, indicating distances to Bowes (12 miles to the right) and Brough (1 mile to the left).
