Description
This milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located to the north of Deadmangill Bridge on the east side of the B6276 road in Stainmore. It is a single stone approximately 3 feet high with a segmental top. The edges of the stone feature a carved sans-serif inscription that is painted black against a white background, indicating distances to Brough (4 miles to the right) and Middleton (10 miles to the left).
