Description

This is a 19th-century milestone located to the northeast of Swindalehead House. The milestone is a single stone approximately 3 feet high with a segmental top. It features a carved sans-serif inscription that is painted black against a white background, indicating distances: "BROUGH 3 MILES" with a hand pointing to the right, and "MIDDLETON 11 MILES" with a hand pointing to the left.
