Description

This milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located to the south-east of Swindale Cottages on the north side of the B6276 road near Brough. It is made from a single stone with an elliptical top and edge chamfers. The inscription on the milestone is damaged at the top and is in sans serif font, stating "BOWES 13 MILES TO LONDON 262 MILES."
