Description

Milestone located east of the Silwood Road junction at the northeast corner of the fence to Crossways Cottage. This milestone dates from the late 18th century and is made of stone. It has a square shape with a chamfered top. The west face features incised Roman lettering that reads: "LONDON 23 MILES." There is a benchmark on the north face, while the east face has eroded over time.
