Description
This milestone, dated 1744, is located on Wycombe Road in Stokenchurch. It has been re-cut and likely re-sited in the late 18th or early 19th century. The milestone features a square shaft set diagonally, topped with a shallow pyramid that has a bench mark. The west face is inscribed with "London 35" and "Wycombe 6," while the east face reads "Oxford 19" and "Tetsworth 7." The rear west face is inscribed with "XXVI Miles from LONDON 1744."
