Description

This milestone, dated 1744, is located on London Road in Loudwater, Chepping Wycombe. It is made of stone and has been whitewashed. The milestone is square with a pyramid top. Two sides feature later inscriptions indicating distances: "Oxford 28, Wycombe 3, London 26, Uxbridge 11." The other two sides are inscribed with "XXVIII" and "1744," but the rest of the text is not legible. The stone has been moved approximately 100 meters from its original location, which was opposite Burleighfield House.
