Description

The Loudwater War Memorial is a freestanding structure located in a grassed area at the junction of Queensmead Road and Station Road. Made of tooled granite, it features a wheeled Celtic cross that is set on a pedestal with a stepped base. The cross tapers gently and has a sword in relief positioned over the crosspiece. An inlaid inscription on the pedestal honors the Loudwater men who fell in the Great War from 1914 to 1918, listing their names and stating, "WHO DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE." The front of the memorial also includes an inscription for the Second World War, honoring the fallen from 1939 to 1945, along with their names.
