Description

Old Beckings is a late 17th-century house with a later addition dating to 1928, situated in Horsleys Green, Stokenchurch. The main part of the house is constructed of narrow red and vitreous brick, laid in a chequer pattern, with a first-floor band course, a flint plinth, and altered wooden eaves. It has an old tile roof and brick chimneys, with one external on the left. The house is two storeys and has an attic, originally with three bays. The front has 4-pane sash windows with gauged brick heads. The central entrance features a fine 6-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, now concealed behind a 20th-century gabled brick porch. There are casement windows in the gables. A wing projects outshot to the rear, and a right-angled wing was added in 1928 using brick and weatherboard. Inside, a central staircase features wavy splat balusters. Stop-chamfered cross beams are present in each ground floor room, and a large fireplace is located at the right end.
