Description
This milestone, dated 1744 and re-cut in the late 18th to early 19th century, is located at OS SU 792949. It has a square shaft set diagonally, topped with a shallow pyramid tip that features a bench mark. The east face is inscribed with "Oxford 20" and "Tetsworth 8," while the west face shows "London 34" and "Wycombe 5." The rear west face is inscribed with "XXXIV Miles from London 1744."
