Description

Sunnyside and The Spinney are two houses. Sunnyside dates to the 17th century, with later alterations. It is timber-framed with whitewashed brick infill; the right gable features a single curved and one diagonal brace. The front of the right bay has been rebuilt in whitewashed brick. The roof is thatched, with a half-hip to the right and a hip over the half-bay to the left. A brick chimney is located at the left end of the ridge. The house is of 1 1/2 storeys and has 2 1/2 bays. 20th-century paired casement windows are present, with leaded glass to the ground floor and plain glazing in the thatch. The thatch is swept down to the left over a lean-to with an old board door in a porch at the right end, and another paired casement in the thatch. A 20th-century board door is in the right bay. Inside, the centre bay contains a stop-chamfered spine beam and joists, which are likely re-set. Attached to the northwest corner is The Spinney, also partly 17th century, with a long 19th-century range extending at right angles to the north. The original part of The Spinney has some timber framing with brick infill on the north side, with the remainder rebuilt in flint and brick. It has half-hipped tile roofs, with a gable to the north side. The building is of one storey and attic, with 3 bays, and features 20th-century paired wooden casement windows, some of which are within gabled dormers. 20th-century doors are present. The 19th-century flint and brick range has 4 bays of similar openings, including an oven projection in the angle.
