Description
Tittenhurst is a large house located in Sunninghill, dating from the early 18th century, with a re-facing around 1830 and later alterations and extensions in the late 20th century. The building features painted render and a low pitched, hipped slate roof that is concealed behind a parapet. Originally rectangular in plan, it has been extended to the south.
The house is two storeys high and has several chimneys with rectangular pots. The north (entrance) front has three bays and features a modified entablature over both floors, with the ground floor cornice being a band with palmette mouldings. There is a plinth, and two windows on the ground floor have been blocked. The first floor has three windows with moulded architraves. The central double door is flanked by two narrow windows, all of which also have moulded architraves. An Ionic porch with two columns in antis and round-arched windows on the sides is present, topped with a small pediment. Paterae can be found in the frieze and in the neck of the columns and angle pilasters.
On the east (garden) front, there are two large rounded bays and, to the left, a later open loggia supported on compound shafts, which opens onto a paved terrace. The interior has not been inspected.
