GV II

Large house. Early C18, re-faced c1830, altered and extended late C20. Painted render, low pitched, hipped slate roof concealed behind parapet. Formerly a rectangular plan; extended on south. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Several chimneys with retangular pots. Casement windows with horizontal bars. North (entrance) front: 3 bays. Modified entablature over both floors, the cornice of ground floor being a band with palmette mouldings. Plinth. 2 windows blocked on ground floor. 3 windows on first floor with moulded architraves. Central double door flanked by 2 narrow windows, all with moulded architraves. Ionic porch with 2 columns in antis and round-arched windows in sides. Small pediment over centre. Paterae in frieze and in neck of columns and angle pilasters. East (garden) front: 2 large rounded bays and on the left, a later open loggia, supported on compound shafts, opening onto paved terrace. INTERIOR: not inspected.
