Description

Fairfield is a house located on London Road in Blacknest, dating from the early 19th century. It is designed in the cottage orne style and is said to have been built in brick by John Nash, with significant extensions added in the late 20th century. The exterior features painted brick and thatched hipped roofs, with an irregular plan that includes extensions on either side and at the rear.

The building has a mix of one storey, one-and-a-half storeys, and two storeys, with four chimneys that have diagonal shafts—single at the ends and paired in the center. The north-facing road front includes a central section with two storeys, flanked by one-and-a-half storey side sections that have hipped dormers, and projecting one-storey ends. The left end features a four-light window, while the right end has a plain door and a two-light window. To the left of the center, there is a one-bay section with a hipped entrance porch, which has a two-light window on each side and a three-light window above. The interior has not been inspected.
