Description

The former market cross, located to the north of Crossleigh in Brough, consists of a cross base and shaft that features a 19th-century inscription and date on a renewed shaft: B M C 1331. The structure includes two steps, which are also 19th-century renewals. The original large rectangular block has a socket and displays stop-chamfers at the corners. The 18th-century shaft stands approximately 4 feet high, has chamfered corners, and is topped with a conical finial, which was likely once finished with a ball.
