Description
The coach house and cloister, located to the northwest of Augill Castle, is a Grade II listed building. This structure, which is being converted into holiday flats as of 1983, is linked to the castle by a cloister walk that runs at right angles to the south end. It was built at the same time as the castle.
The building is constructed of coursed rubble and features a projecting embattled parapet, topped with graduated slate roofs. The two-storey former coach house has a symmetrical seven-bay front arranged in a 3:1:3 pattern, with turrets at either end and a tower above the central four-centred entrance arch. There is a pointed window opening above the entrance that was awaiting glazing at the time of the survey. On either side of the entrance, there are blocks with a central door flanked by windows.
The single-storey cloister has six large pointed openings, five of which were screened off during the survey.
