Description

Holme Bank Cottages is a pair of houses that date back to the 16th century, with later alterations. The cottages are constructed from roughcast stone and topped with a slate roof. They are two storeys high and consist of five bays.

On the ground floor, the second bay features a casement window, while the third bay has a four-light single-chamfered-mullioned window with a label mould. The fifth bay has a similar three-light window, with a label that extends to the left, possibly indicating a former five-light window. The first floor includes a casement window, three two-light windows, and a sash window with glazing bars.

The entrance to the fourth bay has moulded reveals and a date on the lintel, along with a later porch. There is also an entrance in the gabled porch located between the first and second bays, and an entrance at the first bay. The building features gable-end stacks, with a small stack on the left and a large cross-axial stack that has two diagonally-set shafts. At the rear, there is a continuous outshut.
