Description
This milestone, dating from around 1816, is located approximately 90 meters south of Dovehouses Bridge on the Kendal/Lancaster Canal. It is made of limestone and features an upright post with a round head. The upper part of the post is dressed, while the base is roughly cut. There are dressed oval panels on each side, with the number 18 inscribed on the south side, indicating the distance in miles from Lancaster, and the number 9 on the north side, indicating the distance from Kendal.
