Description
This milestone, located approximately 300 meters south-south-west of Duke's Bridge on the Kendal/Lancaster Canal, dates from around 1816. It is made of limestone and features an upright post with a round head. The upper part of the post is dressed, while the base is roughly cut. There are dressed oval panels on each side, with "17" inscribed on the south side, indicating the distance in miles from Lancaster, and "10" on the north side, indicating the distance from Kendal.
