Description
This milestone, dating from around 1816, is located on the Kendal/Lancaster Canal, approximately 100 meters south of the aqueduct over Peasy Beck at Crooklands. It is made of limestone and features an upright post with a round head. The upper part of the post is dressed, while the base is roughly cut. There are dressed oval panels on each side, with the number 19 inscribed on the south side, indicating the distance in miles to Lancaster, and the number 8 on the north side, indicating the distance to Kendal.
