Description

Wath Sutton Farmhouse is an early 18th-century house located in Preston Patrick. It features rubble walls that are pebbledashed and a graduated greenslate roof with a stone ridge. The building has two storeys plus attics and includes five windows, all of which are 20th-century top hung casements. There is a central gabled porch that has a 20th-century aluminium glazed door.

Inside, the farmhouse boasts a four-bay roof with chamfered, angled principals, collars, two layers of trenched purlins, and a pegged ridge piece. The oak staircase consists of four flights leading to the attics, featuring a closed string, square newels with ball terminals, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail. The ground and first floors have 18th-century panelled doors, while the attics contain 17th-century doors. A panelled partition in the living room displays initials and the date 1707, along with a spice cupboard marked with initials and the date ICS. The interior also features oak beams with deep chamfers and a smoking loft from 1707 situated above the chimney. The farmhouse is listed for its significant interior features. An attached cottage on the right side is not included in the listing.
