Description
Dovehouses Bridge is a canal bridge built around 1816, likely designed by engineer John Fletcher based on the original plans of John Rennie, whose route for the Kendal/Lancaster Canal was approved in 1792. The bridge is constructed of squared, coursed limestone and features a limestone string course and copings, along with a rounded fender course. It has a single elliptical arch made of rusticated voussoirs and a keystone. The parapets are shallowly arched and include pilasters at each end. The distance between the parapets is approximately 3.5 meters.
