Description

Eden Bridge is a road bridge dated 1762, as indicated on the central parapet stone, with repairs from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of dressed red sandstone, featuring calciferous sandstone quoins on the parapet projections. The bridge has four round arches, each with two arch rings of voussoirs, and a larger main arch supported by three splayed piers. These piers extend upward to create rectangular pedestrian passing places within the closed parapet. Additionally, there are two smaller dry arches on the curving approach from the Kirkoswald side. A benchmark is located on the central north parapet, and the bridge lies partly within the Kirkoswald civil parish.
