Description
No. 44 Branthwaite Brow is a shop located on a sloping site, likely dating from the 18th century, with a front that was remodeled in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed, squared rubble and features quoins. There is a string course at the level of the second floor lintels, and a moulded, cast-iron gutter supported by brackets. The roof is covered with graduated slates and has a rendered chimney at the north end. The shop front includes a part-glazed door set within a corniced wooden frame, flanked by panelled pilasters, with an entrance to a rear passage on the right. Above the shop front, there are two sash windows in stone surrounds on each floor.
