Description
25 and 27 Fountain Street are a pair of houses built in the early to mid 19th century, with some alterations. The exterior is pebbledashed, with No. 25 painted, and features limestone ashlar dressings, brick chimney caps, and a slate roof. The buildings are three stories tall and have three bays overall, although No. 27 has only one bay. The first and second floor windows are sash windows with projecting sills, except for the left-hand window on the second floor, which is a casement. There is a sill band on the first floor. The ground-floor windows are wider and have roughly-arched heads, currently fitted with 20th-century casements. The doorways are paired; the entrance to No. 25 is in the central bay, while No. 27's entrance is to the right. Both doorways share a limestone ashlar doorcase supported by three engaged Tuscan columns, topped with a cornice and blocking course. There are chimneys on both the right and left sides of the buildings.
