Description

Nos. 4, 6, and 8 Fisher Street is a terrace of three houses that have been converted into a club and commercial premises. Built in the early 19th century, the buildings feature Flemish bond brickwork with light headers on a chamfered plinth, and they have a slate roof with gabled dormers and 19th-century ridge brick chimney stacks.

Each house is three storeys high and consists of three bays with a double-depth plan. They all have a right panelled door with a radial fanlight in a painted stone surround, accessed by steps, except for No. 8, which has had its door replaced by a window. There are railed voids with steps leading to the basement, although the basement windows are blocked. The railings extend up to the front doors and the window of No. 8. The sash windows are set in brick reveals with stone sills, while No. 4 has plastic canopies over its ground floor windows.

The interior of No. 4 includes panelled doors with painted wooden architraves, a fluted pilaster hall archway, and a wooden staircase with squared balusters. Notably, No. 2, which used to be at the end of the terrace, was demolished in 1892 for road widening, resulting in the gable end of No. 4 being faced in red brick.
