Description
38, 40, and 42 Etterby Street are three houses that form part of a terrace built in the 1830s. They feature Flemish bond brickwork with light headers set on a chamfered plinth, while Nos 38 and 40 are stuccoed over. The houses have a common graduated greenslate roof and original end and ridge brick chimney stacks. Each house is two storeys high with two bays. There are steps leading up to panelled doors on the left and right, which have radial patterned fanlights, except for No. 38. Between Nos 38 and 40, there is a through-passage doorway that matches the detail of the front doors. The sash windows are mostly 20th-century imitations, set in plain and brick reveals with painted stone sills. The interiors have not been inspected. These properties are depicted on the 1840 tithe map.
