Description
No. 9 Fisher Street is a house that was later used as commercial premises and was derelict when surveyed in 1972. It was built in the 1760s for the Forster family. The exterior features painted stucco walls and a 20th-century tile roof, with 19th-century brick chimney stacks at the ends and a remnant of an 18th-century stack on the left that is partly rendered. The building has three storeys and five bays. The central entrance has a panelled door set within a pedimented pilastered doorcase that includes a triglyph and metope frieze. To the left, there is a square-headed carriage arch with a plank door, which may have been added later. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, although the ground floor windows are boarded over. The interior was not accessible during the survey and has been damaged by a series of fires. There is also a right-side 20th-century shop extension.
