Description
No. 1 Fisher Street is a house that has been converted into offices, dating from the early 19th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork with light headers, set on a chamfered plinth. The building has a slate roof with original end brick chimney stacks and stands three storeys tall with three bays, along with a low two-storey, two-bay extension at the rear.
The entrance consists of a right panelled door topped by a radial fanlight, accessed by steps, and set within a plain stone surround framed by brick reveals. The windows are sash types located in brick reveals, with stone sills and flat brick arches; there is also a small round-arched window to the right of the door. The rear extension contains blocked upper-floor windows and mid-19th century sash windows that have been inserted, complete with stone sills and lintels.
Inside, the property features panelled doors and internal panelled shutters at the front windows. There are moulded plaster ceiling cornices in the hall and some rooms. The stair arch is adorned with fluted pilasters, although the original stairs have been removed or relocated, and a 19th-century wooden staircase has been added.
