Description
The war memorial, located on Millom Station Road, was built around 1920 to commemorate those who served in the First World War and was adapted after the Second World War. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features four hexagonal stone steps leading up to a platform. The memorial has a hexagonal base set on two steps, with raised lettering in sunk bands. The plinth displays names on three panels and includes three projecting panels adorned with relief figures and badges representing a soldier, a sailor, and an airman. The structure supports a hexagonal section topped with shields, and at the very top is a figure of St Michael battling the Devil. The memorial is surrounded by four cast iron lamp posts.
