Description

The war memorial, dating from around 1919, is located on Wolsingham Road in Tow Law. It features sandstone steps leading up to a high plinth adorned with clasping Ionic pilasters and an entablature. Atop the plinth is a life-size statue of a soldier advancing with a bayonet fixed. The names of the fallen from Tow Law in the First World War are inscribed on all four sides of the pedestal, accompanied by low-relief inscriptions on the frieze that read "FOR COUNTRY 1914 1919." Additionally, there are iron posts with square-headed finials on the lower chamfered step, although some of these are missing.
