Description
Thornley Hall is a house built in the early to mid-18th century, with an extension added around 1905. It is constructed of sandstone rubble, featuring ashlar dressings and quoins, and has a roof made of Welsh slate with ashlar chimneys. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a right extension that has two lower storeys and one bay. The central entrance consists of a boarded door with a small square light, set in a raised stone surround. The windows are late 19th-century sashes, with the ground floor windows being wider, all featuring flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills. The steeply-pitched roof is accented by corniced end chimneys and slightly swept eaves.
Inside, the ground-floor rooms showcase mid-18th-century panelling and a corner cupboard with a shell hood. There is an open square well stair with a ramped moulded handrail supported by turned balusters and shaped tread ends. The ground floor has four-panel doors, while the first floor features six-panel doors. The first-floor rooms also include panelled cupboards topped with dentilled cornices.
