Description

The former smithy south of Old Park Farmhouse is a 17th-century building. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone rubble, featuring quoins and ashlar dressings, and has a stone-flagged roof with gable coping. The structure is one storey high and has two windows. There is a thin wood lintel above a central empty door, with inserted windows on either side. The right gable has coping on moulded kneelers and an external stepped chimney stack that is truncated. The left return gable includes a blocked single-chamfered two-light stone-mullioned window, which has vertical iron bars in the gable peak. Inside, there are pegged tie-beam trusses. At the time of the survey, the building was empty and in a derelict state.
